Rounds is a multiplayer shooter where two players battle in short arena matches while constantly upgrading their abilities between rounds. The game combines fast-paced combat with roguelike progression systems, allowing every match to develop differently depending on the upgrades selected. Instead of relying on fixed character classes, players create unique builds through combinations of cards that modify weapons, movement, defense, and special effects.
The gameplay takes place inside small 2D arenas where two characters fight using physics-based weapons. Each round ends when one player defeats the other. The surviving player earns progress toward victory, while the losing player receives a new upgrade card that can completely change their playstyle.
There is no traditional storyline or campaign mode. The game focuses entirely on competitive matches and build creation. Every battle becomes its own self-contained progression system where players grow stronger, discover powerful combinations, and adapt to changing situations throughout the match.
The card system is the most important part of the game. Upgrades can increase damage, add bouncing bullets, create explosive effects, improve mobility, strengthen defense, or completely change how weapons behave. Because cards stack together, players can create highly unusual combinations that become stronger as matches continue.
Controls focus on movement, jumping, blocking, and shooting. Players must manage positioning carefully because arena layouts and weapon effects can quickly create dangerous situations. Defensive timing is also important since blocking can protect against incoming attacks and interact with certain upgrades.
Rounds is built around competitive duels and unpredictable progression. Rather than unlocking permanent advantages through a campaign, players build strength during individual matches through upgrade cards. The combination of physics-based combat, randomized card choices, arena battles, and evolving character builds creates a multiplayer experience where strategy changes constantly and every round introduces new possibilities.
