Haunted Property is a first-person psychological horror game set inside a small, low-cost apartment in Japan. The player takes on the role of a new tenant who begins to notice strange noises, flickering lights, and subtle changes within the living space. The structure of the game is built around exploration, where movement is slow and deliberate. The environment reacts to player actions, and as days pass, more signs of disturbance begin to appear in both the apartment and the hallway outside. The player’s task is to observe, investigate, and try to make sense of these unsettling patterns.

Atmosphere and Visual Design

The game uses VHS-style visual effects to replicate the look of outdated video footage, creating a distorted and grainy appearance. These effects contribute to the tension by obscuring parts of the screen and introducing visual noise during key moments. The lighting is dim, and most scenes take place indoors or at night. Shadows, slight camera shakes, and sound cues are used instead of direct confrontations. The apartment layout is small but detailed, and progression is tied to subtle changes in the environment that require the player’s full attention.

Multiple Endings and Player Choice

Haunted Property includes two different endings based on player decisions and interactions. Some actions, like how often the player investigates certain noises or whether they confront specific details in the environment, influence how the story concludes. There are no combat mechanics or item collection systems — the focus is entirely on tension, pacing, and psychological unease. The experience is brief but designed to leave a lasting effect through its atmosphere and quiet unpredictability. It can be completed in a single sitting, with the alternate ending encouraging replay for those who want to uncover every layer.
