Button Prison is a first-person horror puzzle game where players wake up inside a strange locked room filled with mannequins, furniture, and hundreds of mysterious buttons. The entire game revolves around interacting with these buttons, each of which triggers a different effect. Some help the player progress, while others create dangerous situations, reduce sanity, or make the environment more difficult to understand.

Trapped Inside a Room Full of Buttons

The story begins with the protagonist waking up in an unfamiliar room without knowing how they arrived there. There are very few clues about the situation, and the only obvious way to interact with the environment is by pressing buttons placed around the room. Players must figure out which buttons are useful and which ones should be avoided.

The game does not contain a large narrative campaign with multiple chapters. Instead, the story is told through the environment and the player’s attempts to escape. As new events occur, players gradually learn more about the room and the strange systems controlling it.

Main Mechanics and Features

  •         Hundreds of buttons with different effects
  •         Memory-based puzzle solving
  •         Sanity system affected by player actions
  •         Hidden items required for escape
  •         Psychological horror elements
  •         Multiple unexpected events and traps
  •         Single-room exploration gameplay

Learning Through Trial and Error

The central gameplay mechanic is memory. Pressing a button may cause an item to appear, activate an event, or trigger a negative effect. Because many buttons look similar, players must remember what each one does and use that information later when searching for specific items or solutions.

Escaping the Room

Controls are simple and focus on movement, looking around the environment, and interacting with buttons. Players spend most of the game examining the room, testing button effects, collecting items, and trying to understand how different systems connect together.

Button Prison focuses on observation, memory, and psychological pressure rather than combat. There are no traditional levels, enemy encounters, or large open environments. Progress depends on remembering button functions, managing sanity, and finding the correct sequence of actions needed to escape. The combination of horror elements, limited space, unpredictable events, and memory-based gameplay creates a puzzle experience where every button press can either help the player move forward or make the situation more dangerous.
